At SAPE Foundation! Through our Education Support & Skills Development Program, we are bridging the gaps that keep Uganda’s children and youth from accessing quality education and employable skills. We believe that education is not just a classroom experience—it is the foundation of opportunity, innovation, and sustainable development. Every child deserves the chance to learn, every youth deserves the chance to create, and every community deserves the chance to thrive.
Background
Across Uganda’s rural and island communities, countless children still wake up without the assurance of stepping into a classroom. Many are orphans or come from families too impoverished to afford school fees, books, meals or uniforms. Others are forced into child labor or early marriages, while thousands of youths complete school only to face a new barrier—unemployment and lack of employable skills.
SAPE Foundation launched this program to ensure that no child or youth is left behind. The Education Support & Skills Development Program connects marginalized learners to education opportunities, school support, and practical skills that can lead to sustainable livelihoods. Through initiatives such as the Bridge2School Initiative—which supports orphans and vulnerable children with school fees and scholastic materials—and the Skill2Earn Initiative, which trains out-of-school youth in practical trades, we are transforming education from theory into tangible opportunity.
Our approach as well recognizes that education is cross-cutting—closely linked to our YES Global Initiative (environmental education), and Livelihood Support Program. Together, these programs provide a holistic pathway where learning leads to skills, skills lead to income, and income leads to resilience and dignity.
Our Faith
We believe that when children are supported to stay in school and youth are equipped with employable, market-ready skills, communities can rise above poverty and contribute meaningfully to sustainable development.

National and Global Alignment
This program directly supports Uganda’s Vision 2040, National Education Policy, and Skilling Uganda Initiative, all of which prioritize inclusive, equitable, and skills-based education.
It also contributes to the achievement of several UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 4 – Quality Education: SDG 5 – Gender Equality: SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth: SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities: SDG 13 – Climate Action (through integrated environmental education)
Commitments and Activities by 2035
By the year 2035, SAPE Foundation aims to:
- Sponsor 5,000 orphans and vulnerable children through the Bridge2School Initiative.
- Train 15,000 youth and school leavers in vocational and digital skills through the Skill2Earn Centers.
- Establish at least one model school and learning hubs equipped with ICT, innovation labs, and libraries.
- Support 10 schools with infrastructure, sanitation, and teacher development programs.
- Reach 30,000 students through ICT learning clubs, mentorships, and leadership programs.
- Launch the “Future Builders Campaign”—a global appeal to support education and skills training in Uganda’s marginalized communities.
- Partner with local and international institutions to promote lifelong learning and innovation.
