Health Support

Hello World

Greetings from SAPE Foundation! Through our Health Support Program, we are strengthening the health and well-being of Uganda’s most vulnerable and marginalized communities. We believe that good health is not a privilege—it is a right and a foundation for every individual’s ability to live, learn, and thrive.

Background

Across rural and underserved communities in Uganda, thousands of families struggle to access basic health services. Maternal and child mortality remain high, preventable diseases like malaria, diarrhoea, and HIV/AIDS continue to take lives, and health infrastructure is still far from reaching many villages and island communities. Poverty, low health literacy, and limited access to healthcare facilities have left many families—especially women, children, and the elderly—without adequate medical support.

The Health Support Program was born out of SAPE Foundation’s commitment to bridge this gap. We are working to ensure that health care, awareness, and preventive services reach even the most remote communities. Our approach combines health education, community outreach, and direct support to families in need, empowering communities to take charge of their health while reducing preventable illness and suffering.

From community health sensitization drives, mobile health outreach camps, and maternal health support, to sanitation and hygiene education, we are empowering households to adopt healthier lifestyles and access timely medical services. We believe that empowering communities to stay healthy also enhances productivity, education, and economic stability.

Our Theory of Change

We believe that when communities are educated, equipped, and supported to prevent disease and seek care early, they can break the cycle of poor health and poverty.

Our commitments by the year 2035

By the year 2035, SAPE Foundation aims to:

  • Reach 100,000 community members with preventive health and hygiene education.
  • Conduct 500 mobile health outreach clinics in rural and island districts.
  • Establish 10 community health partnerships with regional health centers.
  • Support 10,000 women and adolescent girls with menstrual hygiene and maternal health education.
  • Distribute 30,000 mosquito nets and sanitation kits across vulnerable households.
  • Train 1,000 community health volunteers as peer educators.
  • Launch the “Healthy Villages Campaign”, promoting hygiene and disease prevention.
